History

Sauk Village has a long and storied history that dates back further than its big sister to the north, Chicago. Originally inhabited by Native Americans, the Sauk Trail became a major trade route for pioneers and settlers as expansion grew westward from the east coast. Soon Sauk Village became a major location on the trail into Chicago. Once incorporated in 1957, the area became popular for Illinois and Indiana residents looking for affordable housing and apartments.
