The 2011 edition of the Chicago Air and Water Show roared through town once again last weekend. The annual exhibition of civilian and military jets, ships and other craft celebrated its 53rd anniversary on the shores of North Avenue Beach with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headlining the action.

With over two million spectators in attendance, the show was once again the largest FREE exhibition of its kind anywhere in the U.S. First presented in 1959 as a show for Chicago Park District day campers, the event has quickly become a highlight for Chicago residents and visitors alike.

As always, the show served as a great way to show off Chicago’s legendary hospitality, excitement and entertainment.
