Keystone-Monon Neighborhood Upcoming News and Events in Indianapolis

  |     |   Indianapolis Living

A green neighborhood that has had a rich past, Keyston-Monon is close to the city without losing the charm of quaintness. With the mix of friendly locals, open spaces, and vibrant green outdoor areas, Keyston-Monon is hard to beat when it comes to atmosphere.

Just one of the many attributes of the suburb is it’s closeness to the Indiana State Fairgrounds, where the famous Indiana State Fair takes place each year. On top of that, there are more than enough parks to keep your family busy with picnics, barbecues, or simply a walk through the fall foliage. One such park that has had a great impact on the neighborhood since its land purchase in 1928 is Arsenal Park.

Arsenal Park became an important shared space for the community in post-WWI era Indianapolis. After WWII, with a boost to the local population, the park became incredibly popular with local residents. Today, it is still seen as a profound landmark in the Keystone-Monon area and worth a visit if you’re in town. It’s a great place for families, bike polo experts, and community events.

Other attractions for locals include the Meadows Shopping Center, the College Avenue Branch Public Library, the Center for Agricultural Science and Heritage, and the Children’s Museum.

A few restaurants that come highly recommended in the area are Recess (New American), Taco & Burrito Place (Mexican), Paco’s Taqueria (Mexican), Room Four (New American), and Zheng’s Garden (Chinese).

Fall in Indianapolis is a time to get out and get involved in the community. The foliage is beautiful, the camaraderie for local teams is building, and the freshness of a new season is in the air. These are the top events to go to near Keystone-Monon and the Indianapolis city center this October. Go make new friends and build lasting memories for the rest of 2015!
