Marian-Cold Springs may be most well known as the suburb right next to the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If you don’t know what that is, it’s the venue where the popular Indy 500 and Brickyard 400 racing events take place each year. This is also the area where you’ll find the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame for those who love the fast-paced history of racing.
Don’t be fooled by the most popular attraction in the area though, Marian-Cold Springs could be known for a multitude of other attractive attributes. One such attribute would have to be the beautiful 100 Acre Art and Nature Park. A park known as the perfect place to get lost in the great outdoors, and relax by hiking trails, lakes, and various public art.
And that’s not all! Marian-Cold Springs also has 4 shopping centers, the Dixieland Flea Market, the Saraga International Market, and the scenic Lake Sullivan and White River. Nearby, you’ll also find the Indiana Medical History Museum and the Indianapolis Zoo to round out what you can do just outside the suburb.
In addition to the many attractions in the area, Marian-Cold Springs is also no stranger to culinary delights in the form of various delicious restaurants in the area. Some of the most recommended eateries by locals include Shish Falafel (Mediterranean), Workingman’s Friend (Traditional American), Fei Da (Chinese), Pasquale’s Pizza (Italian), La Posada (Mexican), and Asian Snack (Asian Fusion).
This October, it’s time to give back and support the great community that makes up Indianapolis and the Marian-Cold Springs area. Here are a few events to attend this fall that all support great local causes.
Comedy Night with John Crist
John Crist is coming to Indy’s Marian University Theatre for a night of good laughs on October 16th. Christ is a nationally acclaimed Christian comedian who has toured many times now with Tim Hawkings.
John Crist offers up a good dose of “clean” comedy, which is hard to find these days in the stand-up industry. Don’t expect swearing or lewd joked, but also don’t be surprised to find that wholesome jokes can be just as funny and relevant as most other acts, if not more so!
This is a fundraiser event being organized by Lumen Christi Catholic School and proceeds will go towards a good cause. Tickets are $15 for general admission and only $10 for Marian University students with an ID.
You can register for tickets here: http://www.lumenchristischool.org.
Date: Friday, October 16th, 2015
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Marian University Theatre (3200 Cold Spring Rd.)

Tailgate for a Cause
Come out to a tailgate party for the Colts vs. Patriots game on October 18th to enjoy a pregrame that supports a good cause! It’s asked that everyone bring canned food items to donate in support of the Love Indy campaign run by the Buckingham Foundation.
Festivities for the night will include a DJ, lawn games, cold brew, and cocktails. There will also be some delicious tailgate food, such as wee-mac beer bratwursts, Fischer Farms burgers, smoking goose Italian Chicago-style sausages, and soft pretzels with chili cheese sauce. The beer for the night will be provided by the quality Sun King Brewing.
All the food and drink items will be priced at $5 a piece but entry to the party is free. This is a great event to be a part of to support an organization that gives so much back to a community in need.
