Pangea Properties partnered with Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) and Operation Warm to donate 10,000 brand-new winter coats to children on Saturday, Oct 27 at the University of Illinois at Chicago Forum.
As Chicagoans prepare for the brittle winter ahead, one winter coat can make a huge impact.
Operation Warm, a non-profit whose mission is to provide warmth and hope to children through providing brand-new winter coats, partnered with Pangea Properties and CHA to host its 11th annual coat distribution to children who live in CHA households. Coats are offered in a variety of colors that each child enjoyed getting to pick out themselves. Sizes range from toddler to adult large and each coat includes a patch that reads “Made just for you.” It is truly a special moment seeing children enthused about getting to pick out their own coat.
During the event, 400 volunteers from 30 organizations not only helped to give out coats but also offered information on wellness, health, education, utility assistance and financial management at the community service fair.
There were 3,000 families in attendance and 10,000 winter coats were distributed to CHA families.
Pangea Properties was one of the official sponsors of the event. Pangeans helped to distribute coats as well as 100 pairs of gloves and 250 chapsticks.
In its years of service, Operation Warm has provided 90,000 children with coats by partnering with more than 900 organization across the U.S., including churches, CPS, and youth service agencies in Chicago, Il. Pangea is proud to be one of those partners.
