With the help of the community, Pangea Cares has participated in, and even managed, events that have helped to make nutritious and filling foods available to those who need it. Through partnerships with The Greater Chicago Food Depository and local shelters as well as through initiatives led internally, we have made an impact on the communities we serve, as well as our residents.
We believe that our future leaders, with the right foundation, are poised to become agents of change in their families, neighborhoods, and wider communities. By investing in our future today, we can continue towards a brighter future tomorrow. In order to further this goal, we have created several programs within Pangea Cares to support education of youth in our communities.
Pangea Cares believes a beautiful and safe neighborhood brings communities together. We strive to make each of our neighborhoods one that residents love to live in and can be proud of. We have done so by participating in local neighborhood events and leading clean-up efforts in local gardens and community areas. At Pangea Cares we are always finding ways to give back to our community.
Year two of Pangea Cares giving back directly to our residents! We made up and delivered 100 Chicago and 35 Indianapolis Thanksgiving baskets to residents for the holiday. Baskets included a turkey, corn, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, collard greens, green beans, rolls, cookies and Kool-Aid.
For the second year, Pangea Cares helped sponsor this city-wide event that gives brand new coats to 9,000 children in public housing. In total, Pangea donated 250 coats and passed out gloves and chapstick to event attendees.
Pangea Cares partnered with the Chicago Sky at Malcolm X College to provide a Back-to-School Resource Fair. The fair featured free state IDs, haircuts, expungement registrations, legal advice, educational sessions, housing guidance, and giveaways.
For the 7th year in a row, employees volunteered at the Brookfield Zoo for the CHA's annual Back to School event. Pangea Cares purchased and gave out backpacks and schools supplies to 400 children living in our neighborhoods.
The Indy team headed to the state fair to work at a Habitat for Humanity build. This is the second time Pangea has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and it’s becoming a Pangea Indy team favorite!
Pangea Cares' seventh internship class joined the field and HQ to learn about real estate, professionalism, and technical skills. Each of the four participants are here for six, consecutative weeks to grow and develop their skills as young professionals.
For the first time, Pangea Cares is a sponsor for the annual Race Against Gun Violence. Forty employees participated and volunteered for this event that raises awareness and funds for organizations working to eliminate gun violence in the city of Chicago.
Residents and employees donated healthy, nonperishable food items by placing them at their mailboxes for the post office to pick up in their annual Stamp Out Hunger campaign. All food collected was distributed to local food banks and pantries in the community.
For the third year in a row, Pangea mothers were invited to Daisie Foundation’s Mothers Day Makeover. All 50 residents listened to inspirational speakers while having their hair styled, makeup done, and photo taken by a professional photographer. Pangea Cares supported the non-profit EcoHouse Vernon Park neighborhood garden by purchasing cut flowers to give to all the deserving mothers.
Pangea volunteers headed back to Vernon Park Gardens to prepare the neighborhood garden for the summer by doing some landscaping and flower box building. Additionally, Pangea maintenance added a downspout from our building to collect rainwater from the roof to use for watering the garden throughout the growing season.
Pangeans headed back to the BreakThrough Men’s Center to plan, prepare serve meals, and visit with 30 homeless men. They made baked chicken, steamed broccoli, red potatoes, herb rice, corn, salad and peach cobbler dump cake.
For the first time, Pangeans prepared and delivered Thanksgiving baskets to residents to enjoy during the holiday. These 100 baskets in Chicago and 25 baskets in Indianapolis included a turkey, corn, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, collard greens, green beans, rolls, cookies and Kool-Aid.

The Baltimore team volunteered with Parks & People foundation at the Amazing Port Street Garden. Pangeans removed 8 bags of weeds from the rain garden and flower beds to help the community have access to healthy, vibrant outdoor spaces.

Chicago Eco House partnered with Pangea Cares to cultivate a community garden by our Hyde Park residents. Pangea gave a helping hand with cleaning up the lot, building a stage, and planting. We are also harvesting rain water for the space.

Chicago Sky recruited Pangea Cares to motivate Chicago residents to stay healthy and break a Guinness World Record for the largest multi-venue basketball clinic. Volunteers handed out snacks, water, and t-shirts, and helped count the number of attendees.

As part of the B'More Read More initiative, our team went out and filled the free library with books! The goal of the B'More Read More initiative is to improve the scores for Baltimore City Public Schools students.

The Summer Feed Lunch Program was a success! Several of the Indy properties hosted a summer time event that provided nutritious lunches daily along with movie entertainment for hundreds of children of low income families.
On May 13, our Pangea Austin team spent the day prepping and planting new landscaping at the corner of Fulton and Pine - near our new 330 N Pine building!
On Monday, May 8th, we helped sponsor and attended the Mother’s Day Makeover event, showing our appreciation to over 150 Chicago moms by giving free makeovers.
In celebration of Earth Day, Pangea handed a variety of plants out to prospects, residents and employees!
On Friday, April 21st, our Baltimore team helped build a brand new playground for the children of the community, put on by local non-profit, Play More B'more!
On March 24th, our volunteers helped to run the cutest S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) festival for the 3-5 year olds at the CYC Rebecca K. Corown Center.
In February, our Riverside and Groves communities participated in a Food Drive for Paw's Pantry, which provides assistance to all IUPUI students, faculty, and staff who experience food insecurity.
For the 4th year in a row, Pangea has teamed up with the Steve Harvey Show to furnish and decorate one of our units to be given to a family in need, to live in rent and utility free for 1 year!
On Friday, August 19th, Pangea’s team performed random acts of kindness (like walking dogs at the Anti-Cruelty Society) for a chance to win $1,000 for a non-profit of our choice through Chicago Sky’s first annual Kindness Scavenger Hunt.
